I don’t know how many RFP’s I have completed that have multiple due dates in the same document, reference sections that have been moved, deleted or, my personal favourite, referencing entire attachments that don’t exist.
Read your work over is some of the most oft-repeated advice and yet, does anyone follow it anymore? With the proliferation of autocorrect, we seem to be under the impression that checking things twice is no longer necessary when the reverse is probably more true.
So whether it’s an RFP, an email, your LinkedIn profile or a resume – Check your work! Read it twice! Read it from the beginning to the end and then the end to the beginning (it works, trust me). Don’t be that person who defiantly wants to attend, be the person who will definitely be there.
